Within the spectrum of social reform and abolition, we are the preparation and aftercare needed to activate our communities.

Strength Behind The Name

Historically, the process of creating keys entails dedicated time, attention to detail, and the adaptation of forged material. Keys often withstand natural elements beyond the structures they were intended to unlock. In this likeness, Floating Key strives to build sustainable efforts toward the restructuring and healing of this world. We may not witness the complete fruition of our efforts, however, with dedication and consistency we will undoubtedly leave keys behind to guide the path for future generations.

Our initial purpose may shift, but it is the value of our actions that maintain its relevance, embodying our intentions and connections as a floating key.

The Actions

  • Sustainable activism requires communication, self-care, and intentional connection. In order to support this need, we provide weekly prompts and reminders to probe reflection and engagement on a personal and collective level.

  • Creativity is a form of healing that transcends barriers. We pull on the creative force within and around us to bring vibrant change into our communities. Local and global collaboration allows us to better connect with others who resonate with our vision and build ties around the world.

  • Transparency and accountability are fundamental aspects of uniting and mobilizing; however, these aspects are often missing from discussions surrounding solidarity.

  • We believe that more communication and understanding are required before our various communities can form honest, unified fronts. To support this reality, we host discussions aimed at unifying diasporas, healing Black and Indigenous relations, and pinpointing the distinct roles we have in supporting one another.

It’s all of us or none of us.

And it is that serious.
